A golden combination: animals and humour
The unintentionally comical wildlife photos of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards are being exhibited in the Netherlands for the fifth time, exclusively in Natuurmuseum Brabant. This international photo competition started in 2015 and is a huge success. Each year, a jury of photographers and wildlife professionals selects forty finalists from the thousands of entries from both professional and amateur photographers from around the world. Look and enjoy!
A genuine Comedy Wildlife photo above the sofa or in the office? It’s possible!
Photographers Tom Sullam and Paul Joynson-Hicks, who live and work in Tanzania for part of each year, started the competition to draw attention to nature conservation in a light-hearted way. They regularly snapped photos that coincidentally captured animals’ funny facial expressions or apparently farcical situations. The pair saw an opportunity to use these photos to promote nature conservation in a positive way: The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards were born.
Every year, with the photo competition, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards supports an organization that is committed to nature conservation. This year it's the Whitley Fund for Nature, a charity that supports conservationists around the world. On their website www.whitleyaward.org you can see the amazing work they do.
The proceeds will go to the Whitley Fund for Nature.
