Past exhibition
Some 67 million years ago he was still walking around in the swamps of Wyoming (USA), from June 27 to August 6 he can be admired in the LocHal: a real triceratops. With three enormous horns, a striking neck shield, a weight of 5,500 kilograms and a length of nearly 10 meters, this herbivorous giant was an impressive sight. Naturalis found him and four of his friends about 10 years ago and brought the herd to the Netherlands. During the summer months they go on tour; separately they can be admired in Delft, Haarlem, Leeuwarden, Maastricht and.... Tilburg!
The triceratops can be seen from June 27 to August 06 in the LocHal. Because of the expected crowds, time slots are being used. You can now book a free time slot through the LocHal ticket system! After booking a time slot you will receive a unique discount code for admission to Natuurmuseum Brabant.
The find: five triceratops
Triceratops horridus, the iconic plant-eating dinosaur, is not to be missed! With three enormous horns, a distinctive neck shield, a weight of 5,500 kilograms and a length of nearly 10 meters, they dominated the swamps of North America some 67 million years ago. Naturalis has found as many as five of them together in Wyoming, USA. Naturalis researchers and preparators, along with paleontology students and a team of volunteers, uncovered more than 1,200 bones and bone fragments. Research shows that this is a unique find: it is a herd!
