Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2023
A kangaroo playing air guitar, a cabaret beer and a swan selfie: the 2023 edition of Comedy Wildlife gets a gold star! Besides funny photos, there are also creative and artistic photos on show. All photos by the 41 finalists are coming exclusively to Tilburg, for the sixth time now, which is even more reason to come and see the photos with your own eyes. You can see a few here below, but they are even better in real life!
From thousands of submissions, a jury of photographers and wildlife professionals selected the 41 finalists’ photos that can be seen in Natuurmuseum Brabant. Each and every one is thus an exceptional photo, which will leave you feeling good. And in these times with so much unsettling news, that is not an excessive luxury. They are funny and honest.
‘Conservation through competition’
Recognisable! That’s what you’ll think when you see the photos from the International Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards. Wildlife photographers Tom Sullam and Paul Joynson-Hicks launched their competition in 2015 with the aim of playfully putting nature conservation in the spotlight using humour. And with success: the photos won’t fail to put a smile on your face and that is precisely their strength. The photo competition, in which both novices and professionals can take part, is gaining in popularity by the year and that’s a wonderful thing for the natural world.
Photos for sale
The forty finalists’ photographs are for sale. The proceeds from the photo competition will be donated to the Whitley Fund for Nature. This fund has already invested over 20 million pounds in nature conservation projects in 80 different countries. Once the exhibition opens you can get your hands on your favourite photo in the museum!
